We are working with a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in Basildon Pitsea who are seeking a motivated and skilled veterinary surgeon with a surgical bias to join their dynamic and growing team.
About the Role
This role offers:
- A 4-day workweek with a 1 in 4 weekend rota.
- No out-of-hours requirements, with a minimal on-call rota (3-4 times per year).
- A competitive salary of up to £70,000, dependent on experience.
- A 40-hour rota supporting excellent work-life balance.
The successful candidate will have a surgical bias, be confident in performing standard emergency procedures, and manage complex medical cases. An interest in laparoscopic surgery is advantageous but not essential.
About the Practice
Situated just 30 minutes by train to London, 25 minutes from the seaside, and with direct transport links to Southend and Stansted airports, this location offers both convenience and lifestyle perks.
The practice is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built hospital featuring:
- CT and MRI scanners.
- Facilities for hydrotherapy, physiotherapy rehabilitation, and laser therapy.
- A team of 14 vets, including certificate holders in surgery and medicine, as well as those pursuing certificates in cardiology and medicine.
- A highly skilled nursing team with Schedule 3 and imaging certifications, plus postgraduate qualifications.
- Additional expertise including a hydrotherapist, physiotherapist, and 12 client care advisers.
The hospital provides a mix of gold-standard inpatient care, first-opinion small animal services, and advanced specialties such as orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and emergency/critical care.
