Lloyd & Cowan are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-organised, supportive, and experienced team.
This position offers flexibility for both full-time and part-time applicants, with the potential for job-sharing arrangements.
You'll be joining a practice committed to delivering high-quality care, maintaining attention to detail, and fostering a collaborative environment where each team member's skills are fully utilised and new ideas are encouraged.
Conveniently located on a retail park, the practice benefits from excellent amenities, nearby dining options, and a designer outlet for lunchtime breaks. Based in Essex, the location offers a blend of scenic countryside and urban conveniences. It also boasts excellent transport links, with London just an hour away by train and two airports within a 40-minute drive.
About the Role
This position is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and surgeries and is eager for a new challenge. The practice supports ongoing professional development (CPD) and offers opportunities for mentorship or leadership roles.
The caseload is diverse, typical of general practice, and includes access to visiting orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeons, as well as a cardiologist for more complex cases. Consultations are scheduled for 15-minute slots, with extended time for emergencies and specific cases to allow thorough care. Admin time and ‘on the day’ appointments are factored into the daily schedule to provide flexibility for unforeseen cases.
A full-time schedule consists of 4 days per week, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota (the only time sole charge is required). The practice is open to discussing part-time hours or alternative working patterns, such as 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, if you can cover the weekend rota.

- Membership Fees: Paid RCVS, BVA, and VDS fees
