Job Title: Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Salary: Up to £67,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, with 1 in 7 weekends (Saturday 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM; on-call for inpatients only after hours)
OOH: Weekdays for inpatients only overnight
Exciting Leadership Opportunity for an Experienced Veterinary Surgeon!
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on a Lead Vet role at a fantastic Sheffield-based practice.
About the Role:
As the Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will oversee the vet team, ensuring high standards of patient and client care are met. You’ll be responsible for optimising clinical services, maintaining clinical quality, and mentoring your team. This position also involves working closely with the Clinical Director to provide leadership, training, and development across the vet, nursing, and client care teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
Line management of the veterinary team.
Mentoring and training junior vets.
Involvement in patient safety event analysis and clinical audits.
Maintaining high standards for clinical services and patient care.
At least half a day per week of protected non-clinical time for additional responsibilities.
Previous senior vet experience or line management is desirable, but this is also an excellent opportunity for an experienced vet ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

The practice is an RCVS-accredited Veterinary Hospital located in the vibrant city of Sheffield made up of a tight-knit team of 8.5 FTE vets supported by a fantastic nursing and client care team.
They offer high-quality, accessible healthcare for pets, with specialisations in Dermatology, Feline Medicine, Small Animal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Surgery, and Diagnostic Imaging. The practice is well-equipped with spacious consulting rooms, two operating theatres, and dedicated areas for imaging, dental procedures, and isolation, all supported by the latest in-house diagnostic and surgical equipment.
