Lead Theatre Veterinary Nurse – Exciting Opportunity in Cheshire - 4 Day Week - No Weekends!

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for anaesthesia and surgery? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can help develop an affordable, advanced referral service? Our client, a well-established referral hospital in Cheshire, is seeking an experienced veterinary nurse to join their team in a dynamic, theatre-based role.

About the Practice:
Our client’s state-of-the-art facility offers advanced surgical services and a collaborative, supportive environment. They provide a variety of surgical procedures and pride themselves on offering affordable referral care. The hospital is home to a team of residency-trained and RCVS advanced clinicians, offering an exceptional learning environment for dedicated professionals.

About the Role:
This role is ideal for a confident and experienced veterinary nurse who is passionate about anaesthesia and surgical care. Working closely with the surgical team, you'll be responsible for the smooth running of the referral service, supporting the delivery of complex surgeries like TPLOs, fracture repairs, and more. You’ll also take on leadership responsibilities, managing a dedicated referral nursing team and encouraging staff development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with surgical clinicians to ensure proper case planning and equipment availability
  • Leading the referral nursing team, including conducting regular 1:1 meetings and overseeing rota management
  • Monitoring anaesthetics and managing pre, intra, and post-operative care
  • Assisting with diagnostic imaging for advanced procedures (including CT scans)
  • Mentoring staff and promoting best practice across the team
  • Managing the external and internal referral process, ensuring seamless communication with clients and referring vets

About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be confident in anaesthesia and have a solid understanding of surgical procedures. Experience in a theatre environment and leadership skills are highly desirable, though not essential. A certificate in anaesthesia or surgery would be an advantage but is not a requirement. A commitment to staff development, high standards of care, and exceptional communication skills are key to thriving in this position.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: Competitive and based on experience
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with no weekends
  • Work-life balance: Enjoy a four-day workweek and regular hours (8:00-18:30)
  • Development opportunities: Access to continued learning and professional growth
  • Supportive environment: Join a team of highly skilled professionals with a shared passion for high-quality care

If you're ready to take on a rewarding role in a supportive and progressive environment, we’d love to hear from you!
