We are working with a well-established Small Animal Hospital in Drogheda, Co. Louth, for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their vibrant and professional team.

The Role

  • Position: Full-time, permanent (part-time considered for the right candidate).

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week across 5 days (including a 1-hour lunch break).

  • Rotas: 1:4 weekends and OOH, no overnight work.

  • Salary: Up to €65,000 (commensurate with experience).

  • Start Date: January 2025.

  • Accommodation: Option to rent a 3-bedroom house or room in Drogheda (assistance provided).

You’ll handle a mix of clinical consultations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic work-ups while maintaining a high standard of care for both patients and clients. This position also offers the potential to step into a Clinical Lead role in the future.

About the Team

Join a friendly, progressive, and experienced team made up of:

  • 6 Veterinarians, including specialists in SA Medicine and Surgery.

  • 9 Veterinary Nurses with certificates in Feline Medicine, Anaesthesia, and Emergency & Critical Care.

  • 3 reception staff, a practice manager, an accounts administrator, and 2 animal care assistants.

The clinic boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including:

  • Digital and dental x-ray.

  • Advanced ultrasound and in-house blood analysers.

  • ISFM Gold-certified cat-friendly features, including separate dog and cat waiting areas, private family rooms, and more.

The location is ideal, with excellent transport links to Dublin, Belfast, and beyond.

Ideal Candidate

  • Registered: Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI).

  • Experienced: Competent in consultations, soft tissue surgeries (e.g., spays, tumour removals), routine diagnostics, and clinical procedures.

  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and team integration skills.

  • Committed: High standards of patient care and client service.

  • Ambitious: Eager to develop personal areas of interest and grow with the team.
