The Role
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and professional team in a well-established small animal practice. This role offers a great work-life balance with a flexible rota and supportive environment, located in a beautiful coastal area.
Location: County Galway, Ireland
Salary: Up to €52,000, commensurate with experience
Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 4-day work week, 8:30am-6pm shifts
On-Call: 1 in 8 weekends (Saturday evening to Monday morning, with Monday off post-on-call)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical consultations and routine diagnostics.
- Perform general soft tissue surgeries, including spays, tumour removals, and other routine procedures.
- Manage case work-ups and provide excellent patient and client care.
Requirements:
- Registration with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI).
- Minimum of one year of post-graduate experience, confident in sole charge as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to high clinical standards and patient care.
About the Practice
Located in a stunning region on Ireland's west coast, the practice offers an excellent mix of city life and countryside serenity. The main clinic is close to Galway City, while a smaller branch provides a rural village feel. This practice has built a strong reputation for high-quality general practice care and developing close relationships with clients.
The team consists of experienced vets, nurses, and a practice manager. Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound, IDEXX blood machines, and Mindray monitors. With 20-minute appointments and a slower pace, the practice encourages thorough case work-ups and fosters strong client relationships.
