Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conduct comprehensive patient work-ups, including thorough physical exams and diagnostic interpretations.
- Provide expert medical recommendations, diagnostics, and treatment plans.
Client Communication:
- Effectively communicate medical findings, treatment plans, and progress updates to pet owners.
- Educate clients on patient care and ensure their questions and concerns are addressed.
Diagnostics & Surgery:
- Perform pre-operative exams and diagnostics with a focus on best practices in surgical techniques.
- Review discharge instructions and provide post-treatment follow-up as needed.
Medical Records & Pharmacy:
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely medical records following established guidelines.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and oversee controlled substances management.
Leadership & Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the hospital team, fostering a positive and efficient workplace.
- Partner with management to optimize hospital operations, scheduling, and staff performance.
Financial & Business Acumen:
- Accurately estimate costs and communicate effectively with clients regarding financial responsibilities.
- Contribute to operational and strategic planning to maintain high standards of patient care and hospital efficiency.
Qualifications:
- DVM degree (or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary program.
- Current state veterinary licensure and DEA registration.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a veterinary practice, with experience overseeing teams preferred.
- Strong clinical knowledge, problem-solving, and communication skills.
