An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established practice in Merseyside. With over 60 years of history, this RCVS-accredited Tier 3 hospital has grown into a state-of-the-art facility offering first-opinion and referral services, supported by a network of 10 branch surgeries and a dedicated team of 160 professionals.

The Role
This role offers a 50/50 split between the hospital and a branch, providing a mix of consulting and surgical duties. You’ll also spend one week every two months as the inpatient-only vet at the hospital, allowing you to deepen your expertise. The practice actively supports case continuity, encouraging vets to manage their cases from branch to hospital for non-routine procedures. Mentorship and support are readily available for developing skills or handling complex surgeries.

About the Practice
The hospital is equipped with:

  • Digital X-ray, ultrasound, and dental radiography.
  • Laparoscopy, CO2 laser, and various scopes.
  • Advanced imaging, including a 64-slice CT scanner and 1.5T MRI.
  • On-site expertise in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, oncology, and zoo and wildlife medicine.

What's on Offer

  • Salary: £40,000–£70,000 (dependent on experience).
  • Generous CPD budget, with full support for certificates.
  • Professional fees for RCVS, VDS, and BSAVA or BVA covered.
  • Accommodation available.
  • 6.6 weeks’ holiday (including bank holidays).
  • Flexible rota, including a 4-day week with no routine out-of-hours duties and only 1:8 weekends.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and Health Shield cash plan.
  • Sponsorship for visas and support for international candidates.

About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in first-opinion practice and a passion for providing excellent patient care. The role offers ample opportunities to pursue special interests, supported by a team of certificate holders and advanced practitioners.

The Team & Location
This is a highly sociable, supportive team with regular events and activities, from well-being days and film nights to running clubs and group outings. Located in Merseyside, the practice is within easy reach of vibrant cities like Liverpool and Manchester, as well as beautiful countryside, beaches, and mountains in North Wales and the Lake District.

If you’re ready for a varied and rewarding role with excellent development opportunities, we’d love to hear from you!
