Position Overview
The Medical Director will lead and manage the clinic, ensuring the highest quality of medical care, unmatched client experience, associate engagement, and maximum productivity of the team. This role advocates for pets and their quality of life, builds long-term relationships with the team and clients, and educates everyone on aspects of pet health and the human-animal bond.
The Medical Director will partner with the Operations Advisor, support team, and Practice Manager (if applicable) to foster an effective and productive team, ensure a safe and engaging environment, and enhance the medical quality, client experience, and overall performance of the clinic.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
Leadership Responsibilities
Exemplify the mission and values while managing the clinic and training the team on guidelines and practices.
Oversee client education, preventive care, marketing campaigns, and resolve client issues efficiently.
Identify obstacles and formulate solutions to enhance operations and ensure excellent care.
Partner with the Operations Advisor and Practice Manager to recruit, train, develop, and mentor team members.
Create and maintain veterinarian schedules to meet client needs while planning for PTO and CE.
Collaborate on annual planning, budgeting, and productivity levels for the clinic.
Facilitate effective communication among the team, clients, and support teams.
Provide training on systems, technology, and support functions while promoting a supportive culture.
Functional Responsibilities
Build trust and compliance with clients through effective communication and thorough treatment plans.
Delegate tasks to improve hospital efficiency while leading the team through daily schedules and caseloads.
Ensure all client concerns are addressed and resolved promptly.
Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all actions and behaviors.
Qualifications/Requirements:
DVM/VMD required; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state board.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required, with 1-3 years of coaching associate doctors.
