​A veterinary practice in Central Kentucky, renowned for its 146 years of service in equine medicine, is seeking to expand its Sport Horse medicine team within the Performance Horse Department. This role offers the chance to provide top-notch care to competition horses while building new clientele in the well-established practice.

About the Position:

The veterinarian will provide primary care, emergency services, and specialty lameness care to horses on farms, in the clinic, and at horse shows. The job includes:

  • Full-service care and emergency response for performance horses across various disciplines.

  • Horse show coverage, including shows at the Kentucky Horse Park and the World Equestrian Center.

  • Use of advanced diagnostic tools such as digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, MRI, and PET scans.

  • Therapeutic options including shockwave therapy, class IV laser, and regenerative treatments like PRP and Alpha2EQ.

Located in Central Kentucky, this position places you at the heart of the thoroughbred and sport horse community, with access to a range of outdoor, retail, and dining options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general health, wellness, and lameness examinations.

  • Handle emergencies, dermatologic and respiratory exams, neurologic assessments, and pre-purchase exams.

  • Conduct procedures such as radiography, ultrasound, joint injections, nerve blocks, and minor surgeries.

  • Provide on-site and on-call coverage for horse shows.

  • Maintain detailed patient records and work closely with colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a license to practice in Kentucky.

  • 1-2 years of experience in sport horse medicine.

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.

  • A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and effective communication.

  • A valid driver's license.
