Pay Range: $130,000—$150,000 USD
Maintain a high-quality, efficient, and effective medical team. This role fosters an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability, working closely with the Hospital Manager and reporting directly to the Regional Manager.
Essential Position Functions:
Comprehensive Patient Work-Ups:
Obtain a complete history in conjunction with the technician.
Perform thorough physical exams, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and body condition score for each patient.
Document findings on the master health form, noting any problems and diagnoses.
Recommend appropriate diagnostic screenings and accurately interpret results.
Client Communication and Education:
Communicate medical findings, recommended diagnostics, prognosis, and treatment plans to pet owners, documenting conversations in medical records.
Provide timely status reports on hospitalized patients and conduct discharge appointments, ensuring pet owners' questions are addressed.
Respond promptly to client phone calls.
Diagnostic Procedures & Surgery:
Conduct pre-operative exams and diagnostics, ensuring proper surgical techniques.
Delegate surgical prep tasks to technicians and follow up with clients regarding diagnostic test results.
Review discharge instructions with pet owners or technicians.
Medical Record Responsibilities:
Document patient exams in medical records using the SOAP format, adhering to AAHA guidelines.
Ensure all records are completed by the end of the business day and maintain legibility and thoroughness.
Pharmacy Duties:
Prescribe medications with appropriate dosing, review prescriptions for accuracy, and maintain security of controlled drugs.
Monitor and log inventory levels of controlled substances consistently.
Promotes Teamwork & Staff Efficiency:
Assist in keeping appointments running on schedule and communicate clearly with staff.
Foster a positive workplace attitude and be available to colleagues for support outside of scheduled hours.
Financial Responsibilities:
Accurately estimate client invoices and communicate costs clearly.
Adhere to hospital guidelines for payment and resource usage.
Continuing Education Responsibilities:
Share knowledge gained from continuing education with colleagues and assist in mentoring staff.
Attend at least 80% of on-site training and meetings.
Strategic Focus:
Collaborate with medical staff to understand how behaviors impact revenue.
Provide feedback on performance and participate in marketing efforts.
Work with the Hospital Manager on operational priorities and staff scheduling.
Tactical Focus:
Resolve client issues as necessary and monitor daily protocols.
Participate in practice management updates and maintain availability for questions.

Qualifications:
DVM from an accredited college or university.
Current State Veterinary License and DEA registration.
Five or more years of experience in a veterinary practice, with supervisory experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills for interacting with medical and hospital staff and pet owners.
Ability to manage pets in stress or pain confidently.
Physical ability to perform moderate lifting and demanding tasks as needed.
