Lloyd & Cowan are excited to present an opportunity for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join a new, state-of-the-art practice in West Bridgford. Opened just last year, this modern facility features separate dog and cat wards, three consultation rooms, and a supportive team. This role offers an excellent chance for a veterinary professional looking to advance their career and take the initiative in guiding the practice’s development. The location is conveniently accessible, just a 10-15 minute drive from Nottingham city centre, with nearby tram stops and easy access to East Midlands Airport.
Role Overview:
This is a permanent, full-time position, requiring 39 hours per week over four days with no weekend commitments (open to flexible scheduling)

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the veterinary team, promoting a positive and collaborative work culture.
Ensure all team members deliver ethical and high-quality care to patients and clients.
Conduct thorough examinations, diagnose conditions, and formulate effective treatment plans.
Perform a range of surgical procedures, from routine to complex.
Prescribe medications and provide expert guidance to pet owners.
Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics, policies, and procedures, maintaining accurate patient medical records.
Assist in recruiting and training new veterinary staff with the support of relevant teams.
Oversee practice performance, budget management, and overall profitability in collaboration with regional support teams.
Skills and Experience Required:
Clinical Expertise:
Proficient in performing various surgical procedures, including complex cases.
Experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions in small animals.
Skilled in providing emergency care and managing critical cases.
Familiar with veterinary software and diagnostic tools used in practice.
Professional Skills:
Strong communication skills for effective interactions with clients, team members, and stakeholders, with the ability to convey medical information empathetically.
Proficient in managing caseloads, prioritizing tasks, and utilizing time effectively.
Collaborative mindset to work with veterinary professionals and support staff.
Knowledgeable about the business aspects of veterinary practice, including budgeting and client acquisition.
Committed to ongoing education and staying current with advancements in veterinary medicine.
